First Response Unit #1355

First Response Unit #1355 is a 2006 PL Custom Body / Chevrolet Tahoe. The Captain of the squad is issued this vehicle for the duration of his/her one year term. The Captain will respond directly to the scene of the emergency, so that command of the incident can be established and/or medical intervention can begin quickly. The vehicle carries onboard all necessary BLS equipment, including an automatic external defibrillator (AED), oxygen, suction, trauma supplies, pediatric supplies, vacuum splints, a Scott Air-Pak, turn-out gear, a spare Motorola HT1250 16-channel portable radio and can easily convert into an incident command center with its slide-out white board, rear radio control head and green light.

AMBULANCES:

The Fair Haven First Aid Squad’s currently operates with two ambulances.  Ambulance #1356 is a 2006 PL Custom Body, type III modular ambulance, remounted on a 2019 Ford E-450 gas chassis by PL, paid for and in Memory of John J. Toomey.

By utilizing every inch of available space, we designed this truck with numerous compartments to store our Basic Life Support (BLS) equipment and supplies.

Fair Haven’s second ambulance, Ambulance #1357 is a 2003 PL Custom Body, type III modular ambulance mounted on a Ford E-450 diesel chassis, paid for and in Memory of John J. Toomey. This truck was custom designed to mirror our first Ambulance #1356 and carries all of the standard BLS equipment and supplies.

The fire company has also supplied the dive team with a multi-purpose truck Water Rescue Unit # 1388. This truck can tow any of the department’s boats and it transports the divers and their gear. Also, the truck has a variety of dive equipment, including spare tanks, ropes, lights and an electric generator. The dive truck is also equipped with a Kenwood mobile radio with local, county and U.S. Coast Guard capabilities.

A recent addition to our First Aid Squad and Fire Department, is a combination Fire/Rescue Truck # 1385. This truck will support the fire service through its mobile air filling station, fire scene lighting units, interior command center and various other fire support functions. It will serve our emergency medical service by carrying our Amkus Hydraulic Tools (“Jaws of Life”), air bags, cribbing, a Saw-Z-All, vehicle stabilizing kit and other rescue equipment.
