The Fair Haven First Aid Squad operates with an emergency equipment inventory of the most modern technology and highest quality standards. Our squad is constantly seeking out better means of patient care by exploring and/or purchasing new kinds of emergency medical equipment, so that the residents of Fair Haven can be treated with the safest and most reliable equipment. The squad takes pride in our apparatus by conducting weekly preventive maintenance and by displaying it at local school functions, Boy Scout programs and traveling around the state to various parades. Over the years, the community of Fair Haven has provided our squad with generous donations to help maintain our equipment fund. This is a necessary component of our organization, so that we may continue to serve our community with the highest quality of patient care.

VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM:

The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department – Communications Division has created a unique vehicle identifying system that Fair Haven utilizes. All emergency services units within the County, have been assigned a specific vehicle identifier that allows one to know the town/agency that operates the unit and what type of specialized emergency service the vehicle is designed to perform. The vehicle numbers will consists of 4 to 5 digits (2-digit prefix indicating the Town/Agency; 1-digit indicating the Station number; and a 2-digit suffix indicating the vehicle type). The prefix “13” is the Monmouth County radio identification number assigned to the Borough of Fair Haven and ambulances have unit identification numbers that range from “56” to “64”, so our ambulance is designated unit number “1356”.

13–M1 – 2012 Tracker 16’ John Boat

Since Fair Haven is located between the tidal waters of the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers, which has much pleasure boating activity during the warmer months, it is necessary that our squad be prepared for any type of marine rescue emergency that may arise. Marine 13 is a new addition to our fleet. I t was a partial donation by a generous town resident, who saw our need for a new boat. This boat replaces our older 17-foot aluminum boat that the squad had purchased back in the early 1970’s. Our vessel is a 20-foot fiberglass Maritime Skiff, with center console, powered by a 115 HP Yamaha outboard. Onboard, the boat carries a BLS first-aid kit, cervical collars, floating long board and stokes basket, blankets/towels, search lights, a Motorola CDM 1250, 64-channel radio with local, county and U.S. Coast Guard capabilities, a GPS with chart plotter, depth finder and a marine VHF radio. If required, this boat has firefighting capabilities by the use of a portable floating pump, hose and fire extinguishers.
