CHARLES F. MEYER, 88,
of the Whiting section of MANCHESTER, died Sunday, April 6. Mr.
Meyer was born in Yonkers, N.Y. He lived in Fair Haven for 34
years before moving to Crestwood Village in 1986. He moved to
The Pines at Whiting in 2000. He was a precision instrument tool
maker for Bendix Corp. for eight years, and Bell Labs in Holmdel
for 17 years, retiring in 1985. He was an Army veteran, serving
in the European Theater during World War II. He was a member of
the Fair Haven Vol. Fire Company for 50 years; a member of the
Fair Haven First Aid Squad, serving as captain and president;
and a member of the Fair Haven Fire Police, serving as president.
He was active in the Crestwood Village V Square Dance Club. He
was a photographer with the closed circuit TV station at The Pines,
Whiting.
He was predeceased by his first
wife of 37 years, Lucia in 1984; and his sister, Katherine Richards
in 1986. He is survived by his former wife of nine years, Betty
Spirdion, Whiting; his son, Roy C. and wife, Ann C. Meyer, Richland
Center, Wis.; his daughter Linda A. and husband, John Hampton,
Natick, Mass.; brothers, Edward Meyer, Atlantic Highlands, and
Arthur Meyer, Morganville, Marlboro; and his six grandchildren.
A memorial service will
be held Tuesday at the Pines at Whiting Auditorium, at a time
to be announced.
