WILLIAM J. FEENY AGE: 78 William J. Feeny, 78, formerly of Fair Haven, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, in Edgewater, Fla. Born in Long Branch, he lived most of his life in Fair Haven before moving to Florida 20 years ago. He retired in 1985 from the Electronics Command at Fort Monmouth. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving his country as a photographer during the Korean Conflict and was an exempt member of the Fair Haven Fire Company.

Bill was an accomplished bird carver, delighting family and friends with his beautiful handiwork. He loved fishing and spent many hours on the Navesink River. An avid golfer, Bill played in many Pro-Am Tournaments in Florida and recently shot his age, an impressive accomplishment in the world of golf.

He was known for his quick wit and wonderful personality and will be sorely missed by family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Rose Feeny; and a sister, Margaret Feeny. Surviving are his wife, Irene; two sons, David and his wife Cynthia of Toms River, and Daniel of Morganville; two daughters, Deborah Childress and her husband Arthur of Winter Garden, Fla., and Donna Fischer and her husband Stephen of Oakhurst; his brother and sister-in-law, John V. and Linda Feeny of Fair Haven; and his sister, Kathleen Feeny of Atlantic Highlands.

Also among those who mourn his loss are his grandchildren, Amanda and Adam Childress; Daniel, Colin and Mitchell Feeny, and Stephen and Maggie Fischer; and four nieces and nephews.
