FRANCIS "FRANK" XAVIER
MOYNAHAN, 81, of FAIR HAVEN,
passed away Monday, May 5, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank,
with members of his family by his side. Frank was a lifelong resident
of Fair Haven. He attended Rumson High School and graduated from
a two-year Western Electric program. Frank worked as an installer
for Western Electric until his retirement at the age of 62. During
World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy. Frank received several
distinguished medals, and in 2003 he received the New Jersey Distinguished
Medal for those who distinguished themselves in the New Jersey
militia. It is New Jersey's highest honor.
Frank loved the Fair Haven Fire
Company and was an active exempt member for 53 years, working
the Big Six at the Fireman's Fair for 40 years, an event he looked
forward to each year. He enjoyed boating, fishing and especially
playing golf. Although he never married, he loved the girls. He
was so proud to see and talk about all his nieces, nephews, grandnieces
and grandnephews.
Frank was predeceased by his
parents, Francis and Agnes; and a sister, Catherine Moynahan MacVeagh.
He is survived by his sister, Dolores Ryan of Rumson; his nieces
and nephews, Jill and Bill DeFelice, Jack and Maryanne MacVeagh,
Kathleen and John Bonocore, Dolores and Dan Kerner, and John and
Jane Ryan; his grandnieces, Emily, Caroline, Julia, Olivia, Catherine,
Valerie, Morgan, and Gretchen; and his grandnephews, John IV,
Cory Jason and Jay.
Visitation will be from 2 to
4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310
Broad St., Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Nativity, 180 Ridge Road,
Fair Haven. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
The family requests that donations be made in Frank's memory to
the Fair Haven Fire Department, River Road, Fair Haven, NJ 07704.
