A Message from 2017 FHFD Chief Tim Morrissey

Coming into 2017 as Fair Haven Fire Company Chief is not only exciting, but a tremendous honor. The Fair Haven Fire Company has
established itself as a company based on honor, commitment, and embracing the task of keeping its residents safe. For over a century,
the fire company has provided all of these amazing qualities though the wonderful men and women who volunteer their time for this
great town.

Tradition and family is also a cornerstone to this organization which I am extremely fortunate and grateful to be a part of. My family  involvement in this company dates back to my grandfather J.W. Connor who served as Chief in 1958. A few years later in 1984, the honor of being Chief was given to my Uncle Mike Connor. It is also important to mention my grandmother Dorothy Connor and my Uncle Tim Connor who have graciously dedicated an immeasurable number of hours to this organization, keeping the family tradition alive. Some of
my earliest memories with this organization are husking corn for the fireman’s fair and watching my uncles play mud football and softball. Growing up seeing the lifelong friendships they developed through this organization I was compelled to join in 2005. Since then I have too
developed the same lifelong friendships along with the experience and honor of keeping Fair Haven safe. With several limbs of my family tree so heavily rooted to both the Fire Company it is only fitting to have Matt DePonti, my cousin, serve as my Deputy Chief.

Should you find yourself looking for an opportunity to volunteer as I did, look no further than the Fair Haven Fire Company. Even if a full commitment isn’t possible, we always welcome volunteers for the annual Firemen’s Fair in August. If you have volunteered in the past I thank you for your time and efforts. The fair serves as our primary fundraiser that provides funds for critical needs such as equipment and training. So, past volunteers we hope to see you and again– and new volunteers, we look forward to welcoming you into the family and tradition.

Thank you to the fire company membership for the honor of serving as your 2017 Fire Chief. I also want to thank the residents of Fair Haven for all the contributions they make to this town making it an unbelievable place to serve. I and the 2017 line officers wish everyone a healthy and safe 2017.

Sincerely,
Chief Tim Morrissey
