About The
First Aid Squad
First Aid Squad
The Fair Haven First Aid Squad is a dedicated, all-volunteer unit within the Fair Haven Volunteer Fire Company, proudly serving the Borough of Fair Haven and surrounding communities. We respond to between 400-500+ calls annually, ranging from medical emergencies and accidents to fire scene support and community event coverage. Our team consists of trained EMTs and EMRs, and all required training is provided at no cost to our volunteers, making it a rewarding opportunity for anyone looking to give back and gain life-saving skills.
The squad participates in monthly drills to sharpen our skills, maintain readiness, and stay up-to-date with the latest EMS protocols. We also operate under mutual aid agreements with neighboring towns, which means we assist, and are assisted by, surrounding squads when extra help, ambulances, or personnel are needed. This cooperation ensures the fastest, most effective response across the region during high-demand situations.
First Aid Cadet Program
The Fair Haven First Aid Cadet Program, launched in 2025, is designed to prepare teens ages 15 to 18 for future service in emergency medical services through hands-on training, education, and mentorship.
Cadets attend regular meetings and drills, learn essential EMS skills, and may begin responding to calls under supervision once certified and eligible.
With a focus on safety, responsibility, and community service, the program provides a structured path toward becoming a full squad member at age 18, while fostering accountability and a strong understanding of Fair Haven’s emergency operations.
Line Officers
Line officers in the Fair Haven First Aid Squad are the operational leaders responsible for managing emergency medical responses, coordinating crew activities on scene, and ensuring patient care is delivered safely and effectively. These officers, Captain, 1st LT, and 2nd LT, play a vital role in directing day-to-day EMS operations and maintaining readiness. Elected by squad members, line officers are chosen for their experience, leadership, and dedication to training and service, and they are instrumental in mentoring new members and upholding the squad’s high standards of care.
