He was born in Red Bank to the late James and Anna (Cecero) DePonte. Angelo proudly served in the United States Marines during World War II and the Korean War. He was a 66 year life member and ex captain of Union Hose Company of Red Bank Fire Department and a 29 year member of the Fair Haven Fire Company. Angelo was employed with the Borough of Red Bank for 13 years before beginning his career with the Garden State Parkway.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Ruby (Boger) DePonti and his siblings Josephine Thompson, Rachel Cannella and Peter DePonte. Surviving are his children Steven and his wife Trish of Red Bank and Susan and her husband Howard DeGeorge of Toms River, his grandchildren Steven and his fiancé Krysta Chaplin, Matthew and his wife Stacie DePonti, Brian and his wife Shannon DeGeorge, Michelle DeGeorge and his great grandson Sam Angelo DePonti. Also surviving are his dear siblings Vincent DePonte of Florida, Dolly Graman of Lincroft and Marie Foster of Red Bank.
Visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Thursday January 3, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua, Red Bank on Friday January 4, 2019 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent in Angelo’s memory to the Union Hose Fire Company, 161 Shrewsbury Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
