CORA W. KACEN, 82, of FAIR HAVEN, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. She was born in Long Branch and was a lifelong resident of Fair Haven. Cora was a platform manager for Wachovia Bank, Red Bank for 25 years. Cora was involved in her community; for 57 years, she was a member of the Fair Haven Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary; a past president of the Fair Haven Auxiliary to Riverview Hospital in 1960; appointed to the Civil Defense Warden Chief of Fair Haven in 1962 and was also a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was an avid Yankees and Giants fan, loved to dance and loved dogs. Cora was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her love of life and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Cora was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Nellie Wagner Cook; and her husband, William V. Kacen, in 1969. Cora will be deeply missed by her beloved partner, Alfred Mills of Toms River; her son, Paul Kacen of Brick; her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Jeffrey Wiehl of Fair Haven; her daughter-in-law, Geraldine Morehouse-Kacen; her four grandchildren, William Victor Kacen II “Billy” and his wife Joni, Pamela Jeanne Kacen, Jeffrey Wiehl and his wife Kris, and Michael Wiehl; and her five great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Ellie and Owen Kacen, and Tyler and Ben Wiehl.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch. Memorial donations can be made in Cora’s memory to the Fair Haven Fire Company and Auxiliary, 611 River Road, Fair Haven, NJ 07704.
