The Fire Company regrets to announce the passing of 46 year member, firefighter Gary Verwilt. Firemen’s Fair goers may remember Gary as the “voice” of the Fair – he joyfully reprised that role in the 50/50 booth during a visit from Florida a few years ago.
He also served as a Fair Chairman for many years. Gary was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary where he demonstrated the same spirit of service that he gave to the Fire Department.
Many Fair Havenites who grew up here will remember Gary as their beloved 6th grade science teacher.
Viewing will be Monday August 11th from 4:30-8 pm at Posten Funeral Home in Atlantic Highlands. Fire Company services will be held at 7 pm.
