Harvey C. Tilton Jr. from Rumson, New Jersey passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 22, 2024 at the age of 89.
Harvey was born in 1934 in Rumson to Elizabeth and Harvey Tilton, Sr. It is here where he grew up, attended the town schools, helped with the family business, spent time fishing and crabbing on the river from his backyard, made lifetime friendships and shared many incredible stories with everyone he came in contact with. Harvey liked to work on cars so those who were friends with him in his younger days knew of his exciting drag racing days and his amazing race cars. Throughout Harvey’s life he very much enjoyed softball, clamming, gun club, crabbing, bowling for the firehouse league, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Harvey worked for the NJ National Guard for 33 years and 15 years as a Fair Haven Crossing Guard in which he loved and brought him much happiness. He was a lifelong member of Rumson First Aid Squad in which he was Captain, a 34-year member of Fair Haven Fire Department, and a Lions Club member.
Harvey will always be remembered by his continuous smile, kind heart, always lending a hand to those in need, being an amazing friend, and always brightening our days. His memory will live in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Harvey is preceded by his parents Elizabeth and Harvey Sr., and his precious granddaughter Madalyn Massabni. He is survived by his wife Geraldine, son Harvey III, daughter Dawn Massabni, and grandson George Massabni and other beloved family members.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 30th from 4-7pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ 07701. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 31st at 11 am at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, NJ.
