MARY P. SCALZO, 77,
of FAIR HAVEN, passed away Tuesday, March 13, at Meridian Nursing
and Rehabilitation at Red Bank. Mary was born in Fair Haven and
resided all of her life in the Fair Haven and Rumson area. She
was retired from the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, where
she had been employed in food services for many years. She was
a member of the New Jersey Education Association and for some
time acted in the capacity of Union Stewart. Mary was a dedicated
member and past president of the Fair Haven Fire Company Auxiliary.
She was also a former member of the Oceanic Fire Company Auxiliary
in Rumson.
She was predeceased by her
parents, Francis and Brigid McLaughlin Pelo; two brothers, Frank
and Michael Pelo; and a child, Baby Girl Scalzo. Mary is survived
by her husband, Anthony Scalzo; a son, Frank A. Scalzo and a daughter,
Cathie C. Scalzo, both of Fair Haven; and many loving nieces and
nephews.
Visitation will be from 7 to
9 p.m. Friday at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave.,
Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10
a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. Interment
to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations
may be made to Fair Haven Fire Company Auxiliary, 645 River Road,
Fair Haven, NJ 07704.
