The primary objective of the Auxiliary is to provide the Fire Company with whatever is needed for it to succeed at its mission. The role of the original Ladies’ Auxiliary as suppliers of coffee and refreshments at the scenes of fires and other major emergencies was an offshoot of the original purpose of the group. Early in 1962, the First Aid Corps recognized that with the increasing popularity of our local waterways and the ocean, it was time to begin the process of instituting an “underwater rescue team.” First Aid member Robert “Donny” Frank began the process of researching the requirements and qualifications necessary to implement this new team.
