Joe was a civically minded individual who constantly gave back to his community serving 16 years and a three time Captain of the Fair Haven EMS and served in the Fair Haven Fire Dept., a onetime Captain of the Rumson EMS and a 20+ year member of the Middletown Auxiliary Police Dept. Fire Police Duties The Fair Haven Fire Police are volunteers who are members of the Fair Haven Fire Department who, after attending training classes, have been certified by the State of New Jersey, Department of Consumer Affairs, Division of Fire Safety. The primary duties of a Fire Policeman are: Directing, monitoring, and controlling the flow of traffic at fires, automobile accidents and other emergencies. FHFD Firemen’s FairThe annual Fair Haven Fire Company Firemen’s Fair is the largest firemen’s fair in New Jersey and is the second largest fair of any kind in the state. History of the Fair Haven Firemen’s Fair

The Fair Haven Fire Company has produced Firemen’s Fairs for most of its 100-plus year history, except during the years of the World Wars. The first Fairs, starting in 1906, were more like carnivals than the Fair as we know it now.
